e-Citizen

Computers and the Internet are now a part of daily life and we all need to be able to use them to perform simple everyday tasks.
Not only is the Internet a valuable tool for communicating and finding information, but more and more organisations and government departments are using the Internet to provide information and services. Those without Internet skills are in danger of losing out. While you may be familiar with the Internet, there are many people who are not.
If you know one of the many people who don't currently use the Internet, e-Citizen could be the answer for them.
e-Citizen is the ideal solution as it allows the candidate to learn about the Internet without requiring prior computer knowledge.
What is e-Citizen?
e-Citizen has been designed to help Candidates get the most out of the Internet by explaining how it works and showing that it can be used for a range of purposes. These include dealing with government departments, finding information, buying products and communicating online with family and friends.
Who is e-Citizen for?
e-Citizen is a new certification specifically developed for people with a limited knowledge of computers and the Internet.
The e-Citizen programme is open to everyone regardless of status, education, age, ability or understanding, but it is helpful to have a little knowledge of computers before enrolling on this programme.
How long will it take to complete?
The e-Citizen programme is designed to be as simple and straightforward as possible. The Candidate will work through a Syllabus Guide which includes tasks that are designed to give some practical experience of the opportunities that the Internet presents.
The Syllabus Guide is easy to follow with a clear and logical progression pathway through the programme. The e-Citizen programme involves some independent study, but a tutor will be on hand if help is needed with any section of the programme.
The programme is designed to be flexible and allows one to learn at their own pace, but will typically take about 30 hours of training.
At the end of the e-Citizen training there is a straightforward 45-minute test.
